MAA

RC Math Club

We are the Roanoke College Math Club! More officially, we are the Roanoke College Student Chapter of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) combined with the Roanoke College Student Chapter of the Association for Women in Mathematics. Our goal is to promote the interest in and the enjoyment of mathematics and related topics. The MAA has a primary objective to expose its members to diverse areas of mathematics and related topics. The AWM's mission is "to promote equal opportunity and the equal treatment of women and girls in the mathematical sciences, supporting individuals and institutions as we all work to make a more just and equitable community."

We typically meet biweekly to do one of several different types of activities. In the past, we have learned about a topic by having a professor give a 20-minute talk and then lead an activity. We have played some sort of game - Jeopardy, AlgeBrawl, Integration Bowl, HORSE, etc. We have had several social events throughout the year, including bowling night, game night, hiking, and more! We have celebrated Pi Day by baking pies and running a PiAthlon. The possibilities are endless!

This club has chosen to keep their roster private. Please contact them directly for more information.
